 This challenge is not for those who think that there is no work involved, or it is a magic pill to get motivated, or the secret sauce to motivation.

 

The Three Parts of Every Challenge

You need:

1)    A specific goal or challenge. Clarity is key.  In order to go where you want to go you need to be clear on where you are right now, this is the first step of the journey. Write down what it is that you really want to get out of the challenge and hang it somewhere that you’ll see it every day.  

 2)    A start date. January 23rd get yourself mentally and psychologically ready to set a boundary around the challenge and give it more meaning and weight. 

 3)    A finish date. Our 5-Day challenge ends on January 27th but this will become part of your everyday life forever. You can apply the principles and the tools you will learn to any challenge or dream you have for the rest of your life. Honor the challenge if you fall off the wagon and miss a day of your challenge, don’t just arbitrarily extend your challenge by one day. Slipping up means starting over because a 5-day challenge means 5 days in a row.

 

Know your “WHY”

The reason why people only make it a week or two on the more critical goals that may need external (or extrinsic) motivation, that is why we need to depend on our internal or (intrinsic) motivation, we will lean to reward ourselves for little wins as this will train your brain on the happy response you get so your brain will keep repeating those feelings so you can keep winning, it conditions you and your brain to success rather than defeat and desperation.

The 5-day challenge is great for helping yourself develop new skills in short order, help remove a bad habit, or change any other behavior.

Treat it as a game or competition, have fun, you will get excited because you win the game. So I suggest that you make 5-day challenge goals something that you really want to see if you can succeed at. You can make a 5-day challenge out of anything. Here are a few examples:

  • Diverge negative thoughts
  • Overcome fear
  • Build better relationships and friendships
  • Communicate better with your partner
  • Stop self-sabotage
  • Get out of a rut either a job, a career or a relationship
  • Have positive thoughts
  • Morning walk or exercise
  • Practice piano, guitar, or other instrument.
  • Start 10 minutes of meditation per day.
  • Learn a new language
  • Daily journaling (gratitude journal, affirmations, or observational journal of some kind).

Conclusion

Try the challenge. What is the worst case scenario? Is that you will be at the same place you are in right now, nothing to lose (Actually you have been losing all along as you are not living your best self) nothing to gain (which is sad because you have so much potential inside of you and you know it)

Using 5-day challenges can be an incredible way to change your behavior. No matter how you use a 5-day challenge, try to have fun with it. You never know how your life can change in only 5 days!
